Poem: Lack of ideas

My page is blank
ideas so few
My eyes seem to wander—
To catch something new.

To enter a club
And to become a writer;
I must first write something
Catchy and new

Something amazing
Something worth reading
Something I can look back on,
With pride and interest.

The theme is so simple,
Perhaps even plain
Yet my little brain
Is lost in its place.

Ideas come,
And ideas go,
People and places
They come into mind.
Though as quick as they come,
Is as quick as they go

Leaving me with nothing
But a clean sheet of white.
The blue lines on paper,
Remind me of waves.

Perhaps I could write
On something mundane.

Desperate to write
Of anything at all,
I fake enthusiasm
About the ocean and sea.

In an attempt,
To poetically please,
Here were the stanzas
That I wrote with glee.

“The ocean is blue
And the water is wet.
I love the ocean,
And so should you!”

But here is a secret,
About me and water
I cannot swim
So why would I bother?

So this is my poem,
Inspired by my plight
To find something Well enough
And interesting to write.

My lack of ideas
Inspire me so much,
That here is my poem
To show you my blight.

3rd March, 2025.

very recently I had wanted to join my school’s new and upcoming Journalism club. However, in order to join as a writer I needed to first submit a poem written by me. The theme was simple: write about something that inspires you. I thought for a very long time on what I would base my poem on. This was more difficult than I had imagined. So I ended up writing my poem, about being inspired by my lack of ideas.
